What is the Design Process?
A simple 3-2-1 countdown approach best explains the design process I’ve developed after having worked on literally thousands of design projects.
The design process starts with an interview or discovery session. We’ll talk about your project, goals, expectations, budget, art direction, audience, etc. If we haven’t worked together before, you’ll want to tell me about your brand to make sure everything I do is aligned with your brand story.
Equipped with this foundational information, I explore options for the project, and learn more about your audience and industry standards. From there, I develop concepts for converting the information into visible, effective communications.
The second stage is the actual creation of design items. I’ll carefully follow all the guidelines laid out through the initial interview, exploration, and conceptualization stage to create design pieces that will ring true and connect with your audience. Often when you can actually see the result of our prepatory work, you may want some modifications. The number of modifications for the project will have been discussed at the onset of the project.
Before you know it, the project is complete and you’ve got your new items in your possession—on time and on budget. It’s a great feeling!
